In today's world, more and more citizen are subscribing to cell phone services. This causes problems when it comes to tracing an unknown caller. The thing about cell phone numbers is that it doesn't have a communal directory; unlike landline numbers that has the White Pages for residential and Yellow Pages for business. Tracing a number can be quite troublesome at times, but naturally knowing whether the call came from a cell phone or a landline could save you a lot of time.
If the unknown call came from a landline, it is so much easier to trace. All you have to do is look it up in a phone directory. You have the White Pages and Yellow Pages as reference. You could also call your phone company's directory aid and demand about the number. There are numerous phone directories in the Internet as well, naturally enter the number and do a search. The only time you'll taste mystery in tracing a landline number is if it is unlisted. This means that it won't appear in any phone book and the phone enterprise will not give any data concerning unlisted numbers.

Through the Internet, you can look the number up using a search motor like Google. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find results, however this is not all the time the case since a lot of citizen value their privacy and won't publish their cell numbers online. You can also try going straight through numbers reverse look up websites. Some offer the service for free while some will fee prospective customers. .

Free websites may sound like a good idea but half of the time it gives incomplete information. These websites have the same number found on a phone book listed in their database, so there are times when you won't find what you're seeing for especially when the number is from a cell phone or it is unlisted. Websites that requires a fee have more numbers and gives more extensive results.
When using a reverse lookup when searching for a landline, remember that sometimes the name or address won't be displayed. However, the website will confirm whether the number is from a landline or a cell phone and which area it is located. I've already pointed out that knowing what type of number you're seeing for greatly decreases the number of time you'll have to consume.
Although it is difficult to search for cell phone numbers, it's indeed not impossible. Especially today that many data providing firms have decided to do enterprise on the Internet, tracing a number is becoming more convenient and easier. You have any websites to select from; some are free but gives miniature results. Some gives indeed good and perfect results but comes with a price.
Basically, you have two options to select from if you want to find out the owner of an unknown number: call them back or accomplish a reverse phone number lookup. Sometimes, the latter is enough but when you've done all you could and you search still comes back zero, then whether call the number back or let it remain a mystery forever.
